Dan Baker
Research Director, Technology Research Institute

Dan Baker is TRI's principal market synthesizer and co-founder.

During the past 15 years, he has authored dozens of multi-client reports and single-client research studies in the OSS/BSS industry.

These reports span the telecom IT systems: wireless and wireline billing systems, OSS/provisioning, customer care/CRM, service assurance and test, and telecom analytics / warehousing sectors.

A byline contributor to industry journals such as Billing & OSS World, America’s Network and Telephony, Baker has presented his research findings in conferences and private briefings in Asia, Europe, and South America. Baker has also chaired a semi-annual conference on “Marketing and Selling Telecom IT Solutions,” with Telestrategies.

Baker is a former market analyst at Venture Development Corporation (VDC), where he tracked the telecom and real-time computer markets.  In 1992 while at VDC he authored one of the first multi-client research reports on the Advanced Intelligent Network software and systems market.  From 2004 through 2008, TRI sold its research reports exclusively through Dittberner Associates and was the research director and principal analyst for reports in the Dittberner OSS/BSS KnowledgeBase.

He has a Bachelor of Philosophy degree from the University of Notre Dame.  After college he served as a shipboard officer in the U.S. Navy's Pacific Fleet. This gave him the opportunity to travel widely through Asia and live for three years in Japan, a country he regards as his second home.
